Building Your Own Shed – The Easy Way
Do you need extra space to store your things? Then you have probably wondered how to build a shed? If you are good with tools, this will not pose too great a challenge for you. All you need is the right shed plans to follow for buying and building with. With the wrong plans, this can be a tedious task. However, things will be much easier to follow if you have the correct plans.
The first step in building a shed would be to measure the area where you would like to build your shed. Doing this will enable you to determine which size shed you can erect. After figuring that out, it is now the correct time to purchase your blueprint.
After you purchase your plans then you have what you need to know which materials to buy. You need to get all the wood you need for the project. Make sure you have your tools lined up that you will need too. Your plans should help with this.
Once you have all your lumber and tools, you have to chop your wood to size. With all of the pieces of wood cut, you will save a great amount in assembling your shed.
You first lay the framework for the floor out and nail it together. The majority of people these days use a nail gun to complete this task. After the floor's foundation is completed, check to see if it is square. Now you will have to place your boards down onto the floor. For this, you will need to cut some plywood sheets. Secure all nails into the floorboards.
Then, lay out your side supporters and create the framework for each side. Leaving the opening for the door of course. Then place the sheets of plywood in place for the walls and nail in. At this stage, place any necessary outside and inside trim work at this time that is in the plans. Each step varies at this point, depending upon the shed's style.
Once the walls are complete, you will need to place the framework and rafters for the roof. Nail them in place while consulting your plans. Next, hem in the shed with your plywood for the roof. If any wood needs trimming off do it now.
Using the correct hardware, attach the doors. Make sure these fit properly to insure they operate correctly. There is nothing worse than doors that do not fit right.
Sand and paint your shed whatever color you choose. Be sure to check that you are using outdoor paint, so it will withstand weather conditions. It is a good idea to buy roof shingles for your shed, this is a personal preference and it is not necessary. If you decided to add roof shingles to your shed make sure you learn the proper way to install them.
