If you start to live green now you will be adding more time to your life because natural food is better for your health. It is also better for the environment. Eating naturally grown food and walking more will definitely improve anyone’s health. There are many more things you can to improve your health and at the same time make the earth a greener place to live.
By eating healthy, organic foods you are not only helping your body by giving it fresh food, you are saving the earth from being contaminated by pesticides. Organic meats help by keeping the environment free of antibiotics and growth hormones. Plus you’re avoiding all those nasty things from going inside of you! By eating fresh, organic foods, you are avoiding all the processed foods that do a better job of clogging your arteries than they do of providing nutrition.
Driving can be very stressful and contributes to emissions which are said to aid in the destruction of the ozone. If you drive less you save money and risk being in an accident that could disable you or even end your life. Riding with someone else when possible will save money and pollution as there is one car on the road instead of two. This will also help keep traffic down. Walking or riding a bike is good exercise and ideal for shorter trips, it is also great for the environment.
Composting your food scraps can save you money in garbage waste and provide you with great soil next season for your own garden. It also keeps a lot of good stuff out of the landfills. Just keep adding your fruit and vegetable wastes, egg shells, coffee grounds, and grains to the compost pile. You can add your raked leaves and lawn clippings as well. Don’t add meat or bones… they will attract insects like flies and will take longer to compost. Water the compost down once in awhile to get the enzymes activated. Come spring, you’ll have some nice compost soil to add to your own vegetable garden for more healthy eating.
There is a lot you can do in your home to get more green. Open up the curtains and let the light in. Natural light is the best light to see by and you can avoid using energy by leaving your lights off more. Start using the new compact fluorescent light bulbs and stop wasting money and energy on the standard bulbs. These bulbs will last much longer and use less energy. You will love not having to change light bulbs all the time.
The little things add up, start recycling your aluminum cans and anything else you can. Not only will you help the earth to be greener, you will get a little cash too. Take your own bags to the store when you shop, you will have less trash and the store may even give you a few cents for doing it. Try to buy things with less plastic packaging if possible. You will help your air to be cleaner to breath by doing these things.
It’s not that hard to live a greener life. You will feel much better about yourself and you will also feel better because you are eating more healthy foods. A green life means a longer life, give it a try and see the difference for yourself.
